BELGRADE - Greek Deputy Minister of Transport Giannis Kefalogiannis says the institutional framework of the South East Europe Transport Community could significantly boost and facilitate the cooperation between Greece and Serbia in the transport and infrastructure sector.

Kefalogiannis, who was in Belgrade last week for the opening of the seat of the Transport Community Secretariat, told Blic the goal of his visit had been to lay the groundwork for a specific programme of bilateral cooperation in transport and infrastructure.

"That will be achieved by directly launching the implementation of the goals set in a Greece-Serbia MoU on development of railway transport, whose implementation has not yet begun despite the fact it was signed in 2017," he told the paper.

"Greece is renovating its railway network towards Belgrade via Skopje and, for its part, Belgrade should renovate its own section," he said.

Cooperation in the transport sector to mutual benefit is the priority, he said.
