Tabakovic: Serbia's FX reserves at record-high 27 bln euros, gold reserves at 46.5 t

BELGRADE - National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic said on Tuesday Serbia's FX reserves amounted to a record-high 27 bln euros while gold reserves totalled 46.5 t.

During a parliamentary debate on amendments to the Payment Services Law, Tabakovic said the value of five tonnes of gold purchased by the central bank in July had risen by 20 mln dollars in just two weeks.

"We have profited from a rise of the price of gold, but we have no intention of selling - we want to have security in a time of the greatest-ever, the most unexpected crises," she said.

Tabakovic also said the NBS had purchased 10 bln euros since August 2012 and that the Serbian dinar had risen by 1.3 pct.
