BELGRADE - Serbia and Republika Srpska will boost cooperation in infrastructure and education, Serbian PM Djuro Macut said on Friday, announcing joint construction of roads, rail lines and a border crossing, as well as establishment of daily flights between Serbia and Srpska.

Addressing a press conference after meeting with Republika Srpska PM Savo Minic in Belgrade, Macut said the meeting was a follow-up to previous meetings between the two sides and announced that the governments of Serbia and Srpska would meet in Trebinje on May 23 to discuss concrete solutions and issues related to transport infrastructure.

"In that regard, we had a very constructive discussion about advancement of transport connections, including by flights, so I hope we will also come out with new proposals soon," Macut said.

He noted that concrete discussions had been held in several fields, including infrastructure as the predominant and the most significant segment.

"That means construction of roads, as well as a railway route between Mokra Gora (Serbia) and Visegrad (Republika Srpska) and a border crossing between Republika Srpska and Serbia," Macut said.

He noted that, as part of efforts to boost relations, strategic cooperation would be established in education and science.

"What remains is the energy agenda, which is also an important segment that will represent a historic step forward in the communication between Serbia and Republika Srpska in the coming period, that is, in connecting the energy systems," Macut said.
