Begovic signs agreement on cooperation between science and tech parks, VentureLab

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic signed on Thursday an agreement on cooperation between science and technology parks in Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Cacak and Canadian-based organisation VentureLab.

The signing of the agreement at the Canadian embassy in Belgrade was also attended by Canada's Ambassador Michelle Cameron and representatives of all Serbian science and technology parks.

Begovic noted that Serbia had become a leading IT industry hub and that she was proud of all partnerships forged to date.

"This agreement is a great diplomatic success for Serbia, as well as a great success for all our young scientists," Begovic said.

She said Serbia and Canada were connected by development of innovation and noted that Serbia could learn from Canada in order to advance its ecosystem.

"After my September visit to Toronto, I can say Canada and Serbia have many things in common that connect us, such as culture and innovation. We can learn from Canada and use it as a model to regulate our ecosystem to become more international," she said.

Cameron said the programme was a result of her embassy's excellent cooperation with Begovic and added that she hoped it would be continued.
