BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Thursday one hundred countries had confirmed their participation in the specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade to date.

"And, just like we won the trust of countries around the world when we were selected to host this expo, now, in a record short amount of time, as many as one hundred countries have announced they will be coming to Belgrade, where we will be their best hosts and present our country in the most beautiful light," Mali wrote in an Instagram post.

He said he expected the number of EXPO 2027 participants to continue to grow at an accelerated pace and added that the number of participants at the last specialised EXPO, held in Astana in 2017, was now certain to be exceeded.

"As confirmations of participation are coming in for the EXPO, preparations for the prestigious event are underway at the planned pace. Every day, hundreds of workers and machines are working at the Surcin construction site, because everything must be ready in a little more than a year and a half, by December 1, 2026, when we will present the keys to the pavilions to participant countries," Mali said.

For Serbia, the EXPO means further growth, development and stronger economic activity and, among other reasons, that is also why it is a huge victory for our country, Mali noted.

"During this expo, we will present our potentials, attract tourists, businesspeople, investors, and bring the whole world to Belgrade. At the same time, the EXPO is a unique opportunity for participant countries to showcase the very best from their economies, cultures, innovation and visions of progress. Through the EXPO, we are building the future together," Mali wrote in the post.
