BELGRADE - Serbia has achieved all objectives from the reform agenda in the energy sector, creating the conditions for a merger with the EU energy market, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said at the 3rd Belgrade Energy Forum on Wednesday.
"What remains to be done is for the European partners to do their part of the work, after which the technical process of merging our markets will begin - it will be completed within 18 months and, for us, it will be a historic event that will benefit both the citizens and businesses," Djedovic Handanovic said at the forum, held at Belgrade's Crown Plaza hotel.
More secure supplies and greater energy security are the goal of all reforms, she said.
"EU institutions have declared our country a leader in energy sector reforms. That will make us an equal member in the region, as well as amongst EU countries, in the energy sector," Djedovic Handanovic said.
