BELGRADE - After the first International Planning Meeting (IPM) for the specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, the number of countries to participate in the expo can be expected to rise, says the director of the EXPO 2027 enterprise, Dusan Borovcanin.

"Our goal for this year was a hundred countries, and the next goal was 120 countries, which would break the record set by the latest expo and represent a significant number of countries. However, we are now already at 114 with more than six months to go before the end of the year, so I am confident we will surpass that number," Borovcanin told K1 TV on Wednesday.

He said a record-high 154 countries and more than 400 delegates had come to Belgrade for the IPM - technical and organisational meetings with participant countries.

Once a country confirms its participation at the expo, it also expresses political will to be a part of it, Borovcanin said.
