Sofronijevic meets with Azerbaijani ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijevic received Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgrade Kamil Khasiyev on Wednesday to discuss advancement of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Sofronijevic said Serbia and Azerbaijan maintained excellent cooperation and cherished very good relations, almost without any outstanding issues, and noted that Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Ilham Aliyev had signed a memorandum in Belgrade in 2022 to establish a council on a Serbia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership.

Sofronijevic expressed gratitude for Baku's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.

"Thank you for always having understanding for Serbia. We are always open to friends from Azerbaijan," the minister added.

She said Azvirt, an Azerbaijani company that has been involved in various infrastructure projects in Serbia for years, was one of the best contractors in the country.

Congratulating the minister on assuming her post, Khasiyev said Azerbaijan saw a friend and a sincere and dependable partner in Serbia.

The parties also discussed an expansion of bilateral cooperation in air transport.
