Djedovic Handanovic: US sanctions on NIS delayed until July 29

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic told Tanjug on Friday US sanctions on Serbia's Russian majority-owned oil company NIS had been delayed until July 29.

Djedovic Handanovic said written confirmation to the Serbian government that the sanctions had been delayed for a fourth time had arrived last night.

She said the delay was a result of a tough diplomatic battle.

"We have had tough discussions, as the president of Serbia, too, has said, but we have succeeded in getting another delay. That is good news for Serbian citizens," she said.

The sanctions were imposed on January 10.
