BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Environmental Protection Sara Pavkov spoke with European Investment Bank (EIB) representatives in Belgrade on Wednesday with a view to boosting cooperation in environmental protection and green transformation in Serbia.

Pavkov noted that her ministry was continuously working on implementation of and alignment with EU standards and regulations as the key precondition for sustainable progress in environmental protection, an official statement said.

"Today, with our European partners, I discussed possibilities for further advancement of our cooperation, and I am also exceptionally glad about the EIB's interest in our projects and in ways they could take part in them. Our priorities are to continue capital projects such as construction of infrastructure and waste water treatment plants and improvement of air quality, where we have already done much by passing the new air protection law," Pavkov added.

She added that the EIB's role as a partner in implementation of the EU for Green Agenda project was very important and that the experience of European companies was valuable in terms of providing guidelines to the Serbian private sector on how to implement the green transition in line with EU standards.

"In the implementation of the EU for Green Agenda in Serbia project, significant progress has been made, especially in the field of advancement of policies and the legislative framework. Our goal remains the same - to work hard also in the coming period on expediting concrete measures and investments that will enable a full green transformation of the Serbian economy," Pavkov said.
