BEIJING - Chinese companies are very interested in investments and project development in Serbia, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in Beijing after a series of meetings with representatives of numerous Chinese companies including Zijin Mining Group, HBIS, CETC, Power China, XPeng, CRBC and SANY Renewable Energy.
"Chinese companies are interested in investing in our country - this morning I spoke with representatives of three Chinese companies, and there is one remaining. I also inquired about how our rakia and honey exports to China are going. They are going well, but it can be even better," Vucic told reporters after a multi-day visit to China, where he held meetings with more than ten major Chinese companies.
He noted that Chinese companies were currently employing 41,000 people in Serbia.
"It used to be 4,000 to 5,000, but today it is ten times more than that," he said.
"We will soon become the biggest copper and gold producer in Europe," he noted.
China was the single largest foreign investor in Serbia in 2024, with more than 1 bln euros worth of investments last year.
