Serbia registers 22.9 bln dinar budget deficit in January-July

BELGRADE - Between January and July this year, Serbia registered a 22.9 bln dinar budget deficit, which is 118.8 bln dinars better than a planned 141.7 bln deficit.

Revenues totalled 1,318.0 bln dinars, while expenditures stood at 1,340.9 bln dinars.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Finance, a 13.5 bln dinar surplus was registered in July alone.

July revenues totalled 210.6 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 197.1 bln dinars.

Tax revenues amounted to 183.6 bln dinars and were mostly comprised of VAT (94.4 bln), excise duties (46 bln) and corporate tax (23.6 bln).

Non-tax revenues amounted to 26.2 bln dinars and donations stood at 0.8 bln dinars.

In July, expenditures for employees totalled 51.4 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 27.7 bln dinars, with subsidies at 28.5 bln dinars, capital expenditures at 27.3 bln, social protection at 16.4 bln, expenditures for goods and services at 16 bln dinars and repayment of interest at 15.3 bln dinars.

At general government level, a 5.8 bln dinar fiscal deficit and a 95.8 bln dinar primary fiscal surplus were registered in the first seven months of 2025, the ministry said.
