Serbia registers 75.8 bln dinar budget deficit in January-September

BELGRADE - Between January and September this year, Serbia registered a 75.8 bln dinar budget deficit, which is 76.4 bln dinars better than a planned 152.2 bln deficit.

Revenues totalled 1,636.4 bln dinars, while expenditures stood at 1,712.2 bln dinars.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Finance, a 11.5 bln dinar deficit was registered in September alone.

September revenues totalled 168.7 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 180.2 bln dinars.

Tax revenues amounted to 148.6 bln dinars and were mostly comprised of VAT (80.3 bln), excise duties (31.2 bln) and corporate tax (17.2 bln).

Non-tax revenues amounted to 18.5 bln dinars and donations stood at 1.7 bln dinars.

In September, expenditures for employees totalled 49.6 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 30.5 bln dinars, with subsidies at 12.2 bln dinars, capital expenditures at 27.2 bln, social protection at 17 bln, expenditures for goods and services at 15.1 bln dinars and repayment of interest at 13.8 bln dinars.

At general government level, a 62.3 bln dinar fiscal deficit and a 63.6 bln dinar primary fiscal surplus were registered in the first nine months of 2025, the ministry said.
