Mladenovic: 1 bln euro metro contract with Alstom to be signed by December 15

BELGRADE - The director of the Belgrade Metro and Train public enterprise Andreja Mladenovic said on Tuesday a contract with the French company Alstom to build the first line of a Belgrade metro system would be signed by December 15.

Mladenovic told Tanjug Alstom would also deliver 32 train sets as part of the deal.

"The contract is worth around a billion euros and represents one of the most significant and the largest contracts we are now signing to build the first line of the Belgrade metro," he added.

"We have already signed three contracts with the Power China company for the construction part of the works. In that sense, with Alstom we complete the part whereby, besides the construction works, we will also get systems and the trains themselves," Mladenovic said.

He said the design of a second metro line would be finished in late 2026 or early 2027.
