BELGRADE - Serbian First Deputy PM and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali met with the main stakeholders working on the Belgrade Metro project on Wednesday and noted that Belgrade would see major positive changes in the future and that the citizens would be the ones to benefit from the metro the most.
"A future vision of Belgrade with a better transport infrastructure is now shaping up in a realistic manner: two TBM machines have been completed in China and are being tested, and will arrive in Belgrade in late September, while a part of the equipment will set off for Serbia as early as this summer," Mali posted on Instagram.
Simultaneously with the development of a metro system, work is also underway on a railway route that will connect Zemun polje, the Nikola Tesla Airport and the EXPO complex, as well as on acquisitions of new trains and modernisation of the entire traffic system in that part of the city, he noted.
"My focus currently goes in two directions - preparations for the EXPO, as well as for carrying out major transport and infrastructure projects, such as the metro - which will be shaping Belgrade's development in the decades to come - have been stepped up," Mali wrote in the post.
"I want Serbian citizens to be proud of their capital and Belgrade to become a city with a higher quality of life and new opportunities for the young generations to come," the minister concluded.
