BELGRADE - The 68th International Technical and Technical Achievements Fair was opened at the Belgrade Fair on Tuesday.

Opening the event, Serbian PM Djuro Macut said it was "particularly important that the fair will also feature a presentation of the potential of specialised EXPO 2027, which is a great opportunity to showcase Serbia to the world as a country of knowledge, innovation and creativity," an official statement said.

"Macut pointed out that this year’s slogan of the fair, Unmasked Technology, describes very well the times we live in, adding that, as a medical doctor, professor and a man who has dedicated his entire life to science, he deeply believes that knowledge, research and innovation are a country’s greatest strength.

The PM said that he is proud that Serbia is investing in the development of science and technology parks, digitalisation, artificial intelligence and connecting science and industry, bearing in mind that this is the basis of future development," it said.

"The PM expressed his satisfaction with the fact that there are many young people, scientists, start-ups, institutes and businesspeople at the fair, who, through their work, demonstrate that Serbia has the knowledge and potential to be part of contemporary global flows," it also said.

The fair, which ends on May 22, will feature some 600 exhibitors from 31 countries as well as 70 innovations and tech novelties.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Bela Balint and Chairman of the Belgrade Fair Supervisory Board Marko Blazic.
