VALJEVO - Germany's Bizerba, one of the world’s leading scale manufacturers and a global supplier of hardware and software solutions in weighing, slicing and labelling technologies, opened a factory in Valjevo, western Serbia, on Thursday.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who previously held a meeting with the plant's management.
Works to build the 11,227 sq m factory complex began in March last year, when it was announced that the plant's workforce would gradually rise to about 300.
In its first stage, the investment is worth around 21 mln euros.
The Valjevo plant will expand Bizerba's production capacities and strengthen its market presence.
The first scales manufactured at the factory were delivered to customers in February this year.
Over the next year, Bizerba plans to develop a global strategic platform for manufacturing a range of scales designed for retail outlets.
