GENEVA - The director of the Serbian government Office for IT and e-Governance Mihailo Jovanovic, who is heading a Serbian delegation at the 1st Global Dialogue on AI Governance forum, said on Monday it was the largest UN conference on digital development and noted that Serbia did not view artificial intelligence solely as a technological solution, but as an important matter of its future development.
Speaking to Tanjug before the opening of the forum, Jovanovic said he would be attending as an envoy of President Aleksandar Vucic, at the invitation of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, to present Serbia's achievements in digitalisation, e-Governance and development of AI.
He added that Serbia already had numerous examples of AI applications in public administration and business and was developing its own Serbian large language model (LLM) that would enable broader use of AI technologies in the public sector and other areas.
Jovanovic noted that Serbia ranked second in Europe and sixth in the world in a World Bank index of digital infrastructure maturity.
He said the Geneva forum would also be an opportunity to promote EXPO 2027 Belgrade.
