NBS RTGS, clearing systems process 21.5 mln payments in December

BELGRADE - In the course of 21 business days in December 2023, a total of 21.5 mln payments were processed by the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) RTGS and clearing systems, the central bank said.

It noted that the RTGS system had accounted for 20.0 mln payments, or 93 pct of the total, with the clearing system accounting for 1.5 mln payments, or 7 pct of the total.

"The average number of payments was 1,021,924 per day, of which 950,394 in RTGS and 71,530 in clearing.

The value of turnover in the RTGS system amounted to 16,602.6 bln dinars, while clearing turnover reached 35.0 bln dinars, or 0.2 pct of the total," the NBS said in a statement.

Daily turnover in the RTGS and clearing systems averaged 790.6 bln dinars and 1.7 bln dinars, respectively.

"A total of 4,687 payments worth 93,470,301.04 euros were processed in the interbank and international clearing of foreign exchange payments, with 21 participants," it said.
