LONDON - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic signed on Monday in London two documents on cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) regarding support for investment in renewable energy sources in Serbia.
She signed an agreement on a 3 mln euro grant for a project to introduce renewable energy including solar and geothermal power in long-distance heating systems in ten self-government units in Serbia, carried out by her ministry in collaboration with the EBRD and cities and municipalities across Serbia.
After signing the document at the EBRD headquarters in London as part of a Western Balkans investment summit, Djedovic Handanovic said the project was worth a total 40.5 mln euros, including 10.5 mln in grants.
She said a letter of intent had also been signed with the EBRD to continue the cooperation with the financial institution in holding auctions for market premiums for renewables in 2024, too.
The minister noted that last year's first auctions had ensured around 700 MW of wind and solar power and investments of over 1 bln euros.
