Vucic awards state honours to Venezuelan, Nicaraguan representatives to UN

NEW YORK - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic awarded the Order of the Serbian Flag 1st class to the Venezuelan and Nicaraguan deputy permanent representatives to the UN, Ambassador Joaquin Alberto Perez Ayestaran and Ambassador Eleane Yaoska Pichardo Urbina, in New York on Friday.

By Vucic's presidential decrees, the ambassadors were awarded the order for notable merit in development of international relations and strengthening peaceful cooperation and friendly relations between Serbia and their countries.

"The Order of the Serbian Flag, 1st class is not just a personal honour, but also a symbol of the joint fight for justice and peace, which is essential for strengthening international relations. I am confident that, in this way, we will continue to strengthen further the friendship between Serbia and Venezuela as countries of brave people with long and proud traditions and a freedom-loving spirit," Vucic wrote in an Instagram post after presenting the order to Ayestaran.

He noted that the order honoured Venezuela's commitment to defending justice, law and the norms of international public law.
