BELGRADE - At a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the presidents of Serbia and the Czech Republic, Aleksandar Vucic and Milos Zeman, opened the renovated Czech House in downtown Belgrade on Monday.
The ceremony was also attended by Czech Ambassador to Serbia Tomas Kuchta and Jarmila Lanik, the institution's former student.
Speaking to Tanjug, Ceska Beseda Association President Andrej Kubicek said the Czech House building had undergone a complete reconstruction.
He said it would open the door to Czech culture to all Serbian citizens, hosting exhibitions, literary evenings, concerts and gastronomic events, etc.
The cornerstone for the Czech House was laid in 1926 and it was ceremonially opened two years later.
Belgrade has a community of around 300 ethnic Czechs.
