BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Jose Fernandez in Belgrade on Friday.
Djuric said Serbia remained committed to further advancement of bilateral cooperation in all areas, and noted that Serbia-US political dialogue had been stepped up and that the relations between the two countries were on an upward trajectory.
Djuric noted that cooperation in the energy sector had great potential and was one of the most positive aspects of Serbia-US bilateral relations, and underscored that the recent signing of an agreement on strategic cooperation in Serbia's energy sector was very significant and marked a new era of Serbia-US cooperation, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
He said Serbia was interested in diversifying its energy supply sources, in additional investment in energy infrastructure and in more efficient development of power generation capacities based on renewables, and added that, even more importantly, bilateral relations in the energy sector were entering a phase of strategic relations.
Djuric said he was pleased to see stepped-up economic cooperation, which he noted was a key factor and a driving force of strengthening the overall relations between the two countries.
