Brnabic meets with Norwegian representative to OSCE

BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic met with Norway's Permanent Representative to the Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE) Ellen Svendsen on Monday, the press office of the National Assembly of Serbia said in a statement.

Brnabic said Serbia highly appreciated the role of the OSCE, its independent institutions and missions on the ground, as well as the support provided to Serbia, the statement said.

Brnabic particularly highlighted the cooperation with the ODIHR and the expert support provided by the ODIHR in the work to advance the electoral system, the legislative framework and the entire electoral environment, and said she would continue to aspire to make the work of a task force dealing with those issues as efficient as possible with no time wasted.

She thanked the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Ambassador Jan Braathu, who also attended the meeting, for the OSCE support to Serbian institutions on many social responsibility issues concerning the citizens.

She said work was underway on projects by the OSCE and the Serbian parliament that included a gender revision of the parliament and establishment of a Green Resource Centre to give MPs an opportunity to get truthful and relevant information from experts about environmental protection issues.

Svendsen commended Brnabic's personal efforts and commitment to improvement of electoral conditions in Serbia and said the inclusion of civil society organisations and NGOs in the task force, as well as giving them the leading position in it, was a strong signal not only in Serbia but in the entire world.
