BEIJING - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Friday China respected Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and believed the security and lawful rights and interests of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija should be safeguarded.
Guo was speaking at a press briefing, in response to a question about a January 15 raid by the so-called Kosovo Police on Serbian institutions south of the Ibar River in Kosovo-Metohija.
"Unilateral actions are not conducive to resolving the issue and will impact security and stability in the Kosovo region. We hope relevant parties will continue to engage in practical and constructive dialogue within the framework of relevant UN Security Council resolutions and actively seek a lasting solution to the Kosovo issue," the official website of the Chinese MFA quoted Guo as saying.
