BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Tuesday she expected amendments to the Foreigners Act to enter parliamentary procedure in March.
Speaking to reporters at a ceremony at the Aviation Academy, Brnabic said the amended act would unify working and residence permits in a simplified, fully electronic procedure.
That will enable easier and quicker employment, she added.
She said 30,000 out of 35,000 requests for working permits had been granted in 2022 and that there had been 65,000 requests for residence permits last year, mostly for family reunification purposes.
She noted that the trend continued in 2023 as well, with over 8,000 requests received in a month and a half.
A public debate on the amendments is underway.
