Vucic: Global situation makes things more difficult for us

ABU DHABI - The growing complexity of the global situation makes things all the more difficult for Serbia when it comes to the pressure it is facing, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening.

Vucic, who was on a working visit to the UAE, said this in response to a Pink TV query whether the most recent speeches by Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden would mean greater pressure on Serbia.

"Both demonstrated great determination, an uncompromising attitude and a desire to win. That will pose a problem to us because the West will want to get the Kosovo card out of Putin's hand," Vucic said.

He said that, for a year now, he had been hearing reports about whether or not he would impose sanctions on Russia, but that the only truth was that Serbia stood by its policy of neutrality.

He said Serbia's position regarding the Russia sanctions would get increasingly difficult, but noted that he believed the country would remain capable of sticking to its policy in the future as well.
