BELGRADE - EU membership remains Serbia's foreign policy objective despite numerous challenges, and Serbia will continue to carry out all necessary reforms, primarily for the sake of its citizens, Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said at a meeting with EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos in Belgrade on Tuesday evening.

Brnabic thanked Kos for coming to Serbia and said she hoped the visit would help step up Serbia's EU integration.

Kos said the current moment presented an exceptional opportunity to complete a unification of Europe, in view of the deep changes in the geopolitical climate.

She expressed strong political will to cooperate with the new Serbian government on carrying out reforms that would ensure EU membership, and noted that Serbia had an important place in the enlargement process and represented a significant partner of the EU.

Brnabic and Kos also discussed a set of media laws to be adopted, the election of a new Council of the Regulatory Authority on Electronic Media, implementation of ODIHR recommendations for advancement of the electoral process, as well as all other processes underway in the parliament, an official statement said.
