BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with French special Western Balkans envoy Rene Troccaz in Belgrade on Tuesday to discuss significant topics for Serbia, the region and Europe, as well as the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and Serbia's EU path, and noted that great importance was being attached to strategic cooperation and the traditional friendship between Serbia and France.

"I reiterated that Serbia remains a serious, responsible and constructive partner in all processes aimed at preservation of peace and prosperity for our citizens as well as for the entire region. We agree that open dialogue and cooperation are key to the future of the Western Balkans. At the same time, we attach great importance to strategic cooperation and the traditional friendship between Serbia and France," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.

He said he especially appreciated Troccaz's message that the EU needed to integrate countries in the region at an accelerated pace to ensure long-term stability on the continent.

"I thanked France and President Emmanuel Macron again for the personal engagement and the support provided for Serbia's progress on the European path and in the dialogue with Pristina," Vucic said.
