BERN - After a meeting with Serbian top diplomat Marko Djuric, Swiss FM Ignazio Cassis said he was proud Switzerland had been the first country to decide to participate in EXPO 2027 Belgrade.
Speaking to reporters in Bern, Cassis said he had had a "fruitful and positive" meeting with Djuric, "with a frank and open discussion about the many issues we have interest in."
He noted that half of the 130,000 Serbians living and working in Switzerland also had Swiss passports.
"That means that we have good reasons to have strong ties and to have good relations between our two countries. Of course, there is room for improvement, always," he said, noting that improvements are possible in diplomacy, science, governance, new technologies and the economy.
"We are good investors in Serbia but, of course, we can also be more so," Cassis said, noting that the same applied to Serbian investments in Switzerland.
"Last but not least, I just want to mention EXPO 2027. We were, it seems, the first country that decided to participate with its own pavilion. I am very proud of it. I have already told the minister that I very much look forward to visiting this wonderful exposition with this beautiful title (Play for Humanity - Sport and Music for All), and since I love music, I want to be there," Cassis said.
