BELGRADE - The founder of the Congress of Serbian-American Friendship, Vladimir Marinkovic, said on Tuesday the most recent BRICS summit was no threat to the rest of the world but reflected a need of some countries to form associations and cooperate politically, militarily and economically.

Speaking to Tanjug about the two-day BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, Marinkovic said that, despite a sustained global domination by one country - the US - many other countries, including China, India, Russia and others that had joined BRICS, had seen economic growth in the past 10-15 years, expanding their political clout.

They want to be partners with everyone they can be partners with, Marinkovic added.

"That is the new wind that is blowing in global geopolitical relations, indicating that things are changing. That is also the policy Serbia is pursuing - good political and economic relations with all who see Serbia as equal and as a favourable destination for business. Those are the things BRICS rests upon," Marinkovic said, adding that BRICS was a much looser structure compared to the EU and NATO.
