Vucic receives UN's Jenca

BELGRADE- For Serbia, the UN is the guarantor of the preservation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at a meeting with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and Americas Miroslav Jenca in Belgrade on Wednesday, and noted the UN's significance in Kosovo-Metohija.

"In the discussion, I noted that, for Serbia, the UN is the most important international organisation and the key guarantor of the preservation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity. I especially noted the significance of the UNMIK mission in Kosovo-Metohija and the role of the UN Office in Belgrade, which represents the main channel for our communication with the UN system," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

Vucic reiterated Serbia's position that UNSCR 1244 must be respected and UNMIK presence on the ground maintained in its full capacity and unchanged mandate.

Expressing gratitude for the cooperation to date, Vucic said Serbia stood ready to continue to contribute to international peace by participating in peacekeeping missions, as well as to remain strongly committed to the principles of the UN Charter.

"Serbia remains a dependable partner of the UN, consistently respecting the principles of international law, not only for its own sake, but also on behalf of all those who believe in the power of justice, peace and equality among states," Vucic said.
