BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday evening the arrest of the assistant director of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija, Igor Popovic, demonstrated that Albin Kurti had completely lost his senses and wanted to provoke incidents and conflicts in the Western Balkans, and noted that Belgrade would react strongly.
In an appearance on a Pink TV talk show, Vucic said all of Serbia's partners had been informed of the arrest and that all of its friends would be informed as well.
He said the incident could have unforeseeable circumstances.
"But we will always fight to preserve peace and stability, but we will react in a very, very firm and strong manner, because this terror must stop at some time," Vucic said.
Popovic was arrested at the Brnjak administrative crossing on Friday and placed in custody for up to 30 days on Sunday.
Popovic, who is in charge of legal affairs at the Office, had visited Orahovac, Kosovo-Metohija, for a commemoration of the killing of 47 Serbs and Roma and the kidnappings of more than a hundred innocent people by the criminal "Kosovo Liberation Army" in July 1998.
