BEIJING - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday he had held many important bilateral meetings in Beijing with more than ten world leaders, as well as with major Chinese companies interested in investing in Serbia, including VTOL aircraft maker XPeng AEROHT, and announced that flying cars would be showcased in Serbia by December 2026 and used at EXPO 2027 Belgrade.
"We had many important bilateral meetings with 11 or 12 world leaders and I had a long conversation with Azebaijan's President (Ilham) Aliyev, as well as with the president of Uzbekistan," Vucic told reporters.
He added that he had also had a bilateral meeting with Slovak PM Robert Fico to discuss Serbia's EU path, bilateral cooperation, the situation in Ukraine and other issues.
"We attended the military parade, and you were able to see not only tremendous progress by the Chinese army but also by the Chinese industry and technology," Vucic said, noting that China had achieved "incredible progress".
Commenting on his meeting with XPeng AEROHT representatives, Vucic said:
"I have made a promise to the people, and everyone in Serbia laughed at me when I spoke about that. I expect them to obtain a licence in China for flying cars, which are priced at around 300,000 dollars here, or some 250,000-270,000 euros. I believe that, as early as next year, by December 1, we will be able to demonstrate the operation of flying cars in the territory of the Republic of Serbia and that, just like I have promised, we will have applications and uses of flying cars during the specialised EXPO in our country," Vucic said.
