Djuric: Serbs should run united in Kosovo-Metohija local elections

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Monday it was important that Kosovo-Metohija Serbs "run united" in upcoming local elections in the province.

"When it comes to Kosovo-Metohija, we have many reasons to be dissatisfied with the attitude of the international community, which has been lenient to the apartheid regime (Albin) Kurti has built in Kosovo-Metohija against the Serbs. There have been verbal condemnations, some purported measures, but none of that has executively stopped Kurti from creating a divided society where the Serbs have become second class citizens and where it has become normal for Serb municipalities to be run by non-elected ethnic Albanians, and everyone thinks it is democratic and legitimate," Djuric told the RTS.

"It is important that Serbs run united in the upcoming local elections and retake control over institutions and all parts of the system that belong to them," he said.

"Our teams, the president (Aleksandar Vucic) and (head of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Petar) Petkovic have been working on not letting the Srpska lista be eliminated from this electoral cycle, and Srpska lista will run," Djuric said.
