BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Japanese Ambassador to Belgrade Akira Imamura on Tuesday to discuss strengthening of bilateral cooperation and economic ties, with emphasis on new joint projects and greater Japanese investments in Serbia.
During the meeting, the parties highlighted opportunities for strengthening economic ties through greater Japanese investments in infrastructure, energy, the high tech sector and industry, with transfers of knowledge and capacity-building at domestic companies.
"A very good meeting with the ambassador of Japan and a constructive discussion about strengthening of bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on new joint projects, an increase of investments and stepping up of academic and cultural ties," Vucic wrote in an Instagram post.
He especially noted the success of the Osaka EXPO as an example of exceptional organisation and logistics, which he said represented a challenge and an inspiration for Serbia, as well as a framework for enhancing its own capacities when it comes to organisation and promotion of innovation.
"I highlighted Serbia's commitment to continued strengthening of relations and expansion of the cooperation with Japan, in view of the enormous potentials that will open up in our country in the coming period," Vucic posted.
