KOSOVSKA MITROVICA  - Pristina's electoral panel for complaints and submissions has rejected as unfounded a Srpska lista complaint regarding the composition of electoral boards for upcoming local elections in Kosovo-Metohija.

Srpska lista said the panel had invoked a rule under which the central electoral commission - an 11-member body in which Srpska lista has only one representative - has the right to disregard its own rules if it decides so.

"They can do as they wish, and even go against their own rules, if what they do is against Srpska lista," the Kosovo-Metohija Serb party said in a statement, questioning the purpose of the rule.

"Is that rule of law and legal certainty?" it added.

Srpska lista deputy leader Igor Simic said on Monday the commission had made illegal and illegitimate decisions regarding the number of voters and electoral board members that were aimed against the Serbs and Srpska lista and that the party had filed a complaint against the decisions.

He said the decisions had to do with the distribution of seats in electoral boards and the number of voters in Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo-Metohija.
