Djuric, Solomon Islands' FM sign agreement on mutual abolition of visas

NEW YORK - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met on Friday in New York with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Solomon Islands, Peter Shanel Agovaka, with whom he signed an inter-governmental agreement on mutual abolition of visas for holders of all types of passports, as well as a MoU on bilateral political consultations between the MFAs of the two countries.

"Minister Djuric underlined Serbia’s commitment to strengthening political dialogue and overall bilateral cooperation with the Solomon Islands, reiterating his invitation to Minister Agovaka to visit Belgrade.

He emphasised that Serbia greatly values the support of the Solomon Islands on matters of vital national importance, in line with international law.

Minister Djuric expressed particular satisfaction with the cooperation in the field of education through the World in Serbia program and highlighted that there is considerable potential for enhanced cooperation in other areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, culture, and sports.

He also welcomed the confirmation of the Solomon Islands’ participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 to be held in Belgrade," the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

"On this occasion in New York, the two ministers signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Solomon Islands on the Mutual Abolition of Visas for All Types of Passports, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Political Consultations between the two ministries of foreign affairs. They expressed their confidence that these documents will contribute to further deepening the ties between the two countries," it said.

Earlier, Djuric also signed an inter-governmental agreement on mutual abolition of visas with Honduran FM Javier Efrain Bu Soto.
