BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic reiterated at Tuesday's meeting with Loucas Fourlas, co-chair of the Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, that EU membership was the main foreign policy priority for Serbia and that she was hoping for positive steps in the country's EU integration process by the end of the year and a soonest possible opening of Cluster 3 in the accession talks.
"The National Assembly Speaker thanked the European Parliament delegation for the visit and the opportunity to host the representatives of four different parliamentary groups, highlighting it as a positive example and stressing that it is the parliamentary representatives’ task to enable an exchange of opinions and maintain dialogue despite differing views," an official statement said.
Brnabic thanked the head of the EU Delegation to Belgrade Andreas von Beckerath for his significant commitment and assistance with matters on which work was currently underway and which were related to implementation of necessary reforms.
"Brnabic said that she hopes for a positive step in Serbia's integration process by the end of the year, and as she noted, the opening of Cluster 3 as soon as possible would be excellent news for our country," the statement said.
The SAPC delegation also included MEPs Alessandra Moretti, Annamaria Vicsek and Aleksandar Nikolic.
