Brnabic: France supports Serbia on EU path in direct, open manner

PARIS - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Thursday in Paris France was a true friend of Serbia that was supporting it on the EU path in a direct and open manner.

Speaking to reporters about her visit to France for the Paris Peace Forum, Brnabic said she had had a large number of fantastic meetings.

"I can tell all our citizens that France is a true friend and a true ally," she said, adding that she had also had an excellent meeting with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot.

She noted that Barrot had expressed full support for Serbia when it comes to opening further clusters in its EU accession talks, and added that he was incredibly well informed of Serbia's EU integration process.

"They know every detail about every reform we are carrying out on our EU path so that they can somehow advocate opening Cluster 3 on Serbia's behalf. A real friendship I have not seen in a long time," Brnabic said.

She said she had an excellent discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron at a working dinner at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday evening.

Brnabic said Macron had asked her to convey his greetings to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, adding that he hoped they would meet soon.

She said Macron, too, was a major, direct and open supporter of Serbia on its EU path.
