NIS requests special licence from US's OFAC

BELGRADE - Serbia's Russian majority-owned oil company NIS submitted to the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on November 18 a new request for a special licence that would enable the firm to operate without obstructions, NIS announced on Wednesday.

NIS is under US sanctions.

The previous licence, which was issued on November 14 and expires on February 13, approves talks between NIS shareholders and other interested parties about changes to the company's ownership structure.

A new licence would enable NIS to keep operating during the negotiations about a sustainable solution for the company, NIS said in a statement.
