Brnabic: Opening Cluster 3 would be good for citizens and a good signal to investors

BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Tuesday opening Cluster 3 in Serbia's EU accession talks would be a good signal to investors and the economy, as well as a fair signal by the EU as Serbia had met the conditions for opening the cluster as early as in 2021.

"We have now met additional conditions for opening it," Brnabic told the RTS.

"Giving the green light for opening Cluster 3 would be a fair and honest move by all EU member states. Let me remind you that, in its last five reports on Serbia's progress, the European Commission recommended opening the cluster. Many thanks, above all, to our partners from France and Italy, who have even sent a demarche to other EU member states in an appeal for opening Cluster 3," Brnabic said.

She noted that, regrettably, Serbia was the only country where representatives of a former government - blockaders from opposition parties - were constantly writing letters and appealing against opening the cluster.

"It is really a unique case where you have some purportedly pro-European political parties that are appealing to the EU to slow down your country's European path," Brnabic said.
