Amendment to 2026 budget bill seeks to ensure energy security to Serbia

BELGRADE - The Aleksandar Vucic - Serbia Must Not Stop group in the Serbian parliament tabled on Wednesday an amendment to the 2026 budget bill that aims to ensure energy security and stability to Serbia, Tanjug learns.

Under the amendment, an additional 164 bln dinars (approx. 1.4 bln euros) would be earmarked for procurement of "financial property."

Initially, 600 mln dinars was set aside for the purpose.

On Tuesday evening, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic announced that an amendment enabling Serbia to take over its Russian majority-owned oil company NIS - which is under US sanctions - would be tabled to the parliament, which is currently debating the 2026 budget bill.
