WASHINGTON - Serbian FM Marko Djuric, who is on a visit to Washington, met with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on Monday to discuss topics including safeguarding energy security in Serbia, as well as the operations of NIS, Serbia's oil company that is under US sanctions due to its Russian-majority ownership.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to hold discussions with Landau, Djuric said he was pleased to share with him the same enthusiasm regarding Serbia-US relations.
Djuric noted that Belgrade attached special importance to development of strategic partnership and overall ties with the US, one of Serbia's key foreign policy partners.
He said direct meetings with senior US officials were important for regular and substantial exchanges.
The parties discussed the safeguarding of energy security in Serbia, as well as NIS operations.
Also assessed were all aspects of the current situation in Serbia's energy sector.
