NIAMEY - Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic met with Niger's PM Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine in Niamey on Friday to discuss strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
Dacic is on an official visit to Niger.
"At the meeting, which was also attended by Nigerien Minister of the Interior, Public Security and Decentralisation General Mohamed Boubacar Toumba and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad Yaou Sangare Bakary, it was emphasised that the two countries are connected by decades of friendship, based on mutual understanding," a government statement said.
"Dacic recalled that Serbia and Niger are bound by friendly relations established during the time of the Non-Aligned Movement, expressing readiness to improve bilateral cooperation, in the spirit of strengthening friendship and fostering relations in areas of common interest, such as agriculture, education and security.
He noted that there is room for further strengthening of cooperation in the field of internal affairs, especially in the area of public security, emergency situations, and the joint fight against organised and other forms of crime.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his belief that this visit, as well as the participation of the Republic of Niger in Specialised Expo 2027, will further contribute to the strengthening of friendly relations, and at the same time extended an invitation to the Prime Minister and ministers of this country to visit Serbia," it also said.
