BELGRADE - Serbia's EXPO 2027 Commissioner Jagoda Lazarevic, who is also minister of internal and external trade, EXPO 2027 Director Danilo Jerinic and Iranian EXPO 2027 Section Commissioner Sodaif Beikzadeh signed on Thursday in Belgrade a contract on Iran's participation in the specialised expo.

The contract will enable the implementation of further operational steps towards Iran's involvement as an official participant, the parties said at the EXPO Playground.

Lazarevic said she was exceptionally pleased to be able to host an Iranian delegation.

"I would like to take the opportunity to point out that the number of (participant) countries is growing - more than 130 have confirmed their participation, and the number keeps growing," she said.

Lazarevic said Iran's participation in the event would boost Serbia's bilateral relations with the country and noted that Belgrade respected Iran's principles when it comes to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.

"Besides good political relations, Iran's participation will also advance our economic relations. But this is certainly an exceptional opportunity to present that country in the best light and we all look forward to our cooperation, but we still have much work to do before the EXPO," she said.

Iran's EXPO 2027 programme will be presented under the slogan of Let's Play Together.

EXPO 2027 Belgrade will be held from May 15 through August 15 2027 under the theme of Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.
