Pristina court sentences Kosovo-Metohija Serb to ten years in prison

PRISTINA - A basic court in Pristina on Friday sentenced Kosovo-Metohija Serb Sladjan Trajkovic to ten years in prison for an alleged war crime against civilians in the area of the Vucitrn municipality during the 1999 conflict in Kosovo-Metohija.

Trajkovic, a resident of Kosovska Mitrovica, was also acquitted on two counts of the indictment.

Trajkovic was arrested in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica on December 15, 2022 and has since been in custody.

His attorney Bogdan Lazic announced that the defence would appeal against the first-instance ruling as it believed the court had not made a full and correct assessment of all evidence.

Trajkovic is a former officer of the so-called Kosovo Police who quit the force in November 2022, when Serbs in the north of Kosovo-Metohija collectively left the Pristina provisional institutions.

Before joining the so-called Kosovo Police, Trajkovic passed all security checks by the institutions in Pristina as well as international institutions.
