MAJDANPEK - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday he had had a very successful meeting with Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood Gert Jan Koopman earlier in the day, and noted that Serbia would remain on the EU path and that its success might surprise many.
"Let me inform you - we had a good meeting with Koopman this morning, we will keep pushing on our EU path, and many people might be surprised," Vucic told reporters during a visit to Rudna Glava near Majdanpek, eastern Serbia.
Asked if he had also discussed judicial laws with Koopman, Vucic responded that was always the case.
"That is the first thing. They told me: 'This is not good', and I said: 'I have already heard that a thousand times,'" Vucic added.
"I said: 'We are waiting for the Venice Commission's opinion, and we will see if they will tell us that it is not good - if they do, we will act accordingly, and see what their objections are,'" he noted.
