BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke by phone with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on Thursday to discuss strengthening of energy security and stability of supplies, as well as challenges in the energy sector, including NIS operations, with a view to preserving market security and predictability.
NIS, Serbia's Russian-majority owned oil company, is under US sanctions.
"An excellent and important discussion with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau about bilateral cooperation, energy, regional stability and the current geopolitical circumstances. Serbia attaches special importance to development of strategic partnership and overall relations with the US, which we consider as a key foreign policy partner," Vucic posted on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.
As regards regional and global developments, Vucic noted that preservation of peace and stability was imperative for further development and progress in the Western Balkan region and the broader international environment.
He added that stepping up bilateral discussions on all outstanding issues was crucial for strengthening trust and stability in Serbia-US relations.
"I am confident that Serbia and the US will continue to develop the strategic partnership through open and continuous political dialogue," Vucic concluded.
