BRUSSELS - EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos welcomed on Thursday the passage of four electoral laws in the Serbian parliament following recommendations by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), and noted that it was "the first important step to support free and fair elections."
"We continue to work closely with Serbian authorities in view of the adoption of two key outstanding laws on anti-corruption and financing of political activities," Kos posted on X.
"I welcome the adoption of four electoral laws by Serbia following Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) recommendations.
This is a first important step to support free and fair elections," she wrote in the post.
On Wednesday, the Serbian parliament passed a set of electoral laws - an amended Law on the Election of the President of the Republic, an amended Law on the Election of MPs, an amended Law on Local Elections and an amended Law on the Constitutional Court.
